Physical or Sedentary?

I have to admit that I prefer the sedentary over the physical.  If there is an elevator or an escalator, I would not take the stairs unless taking the stairs is faster.  I rarely workout, and would choose watching TV every time if I could maintain fitness without exercise.  I have never touched a snow shovel, partly because of my laziness, and partly because I don't live in a house.
The "real world", as described in the essay "A Plea for the Physical" doesn't interest me as much as the realms, the universes, the endless possibilities that are offered in books, movies, and most importantly, imagination.  I don't mind getting my hands dirty, but I would prefer to actually accomplish something if I want to, unlike the gardeners mentioned in the essay, who "simply like to get [their] hands in the dirt".  I don't mind wastes such as paper or plastic, but I feel slightly uncomfortable at the sight of slime or mud.  Also, I  REALLY hate spiders.
The realm of imagination, on the other hand, has no limits.  One of my favourite shows, Doctor Who, described the planet Gallifrey, home to the Time Lords: "the skies are burned orange, with a citadel enclosed in a mighty glass dome, shining under the twin suns.  Beyond that, the mountains go on forever, slopes of deep red grass, capped with snow... [time lords] used to call it the shining worlds of the seven systems.  On the continent of wild endeavour, in the mountains of solace and solitude, there stood the citadel of the time lords, [which was] the oldest and mightiest race in the universe, looking down on the galaxies below, sworn never to interfere, only to watch..."  Where can one find such beauty in the real world?  There are so many limitations, so many rules, so much pollution that the real world we live in is a mud ball compared to the perfect worlds that we can forge within our imagination.
Perhaps it's in our human nature that we prefer the unknown to the reality.  If dinosaurs exist today, probably no one would treat them with more respect than we do with lions and tigers, but look at how these prehistoric creatures fascinated young children after their extinction.  We humans are fascinated with fantasy worlds, and personally, I would enjoy spending a vacation living in one of them more than living in our dull world where everything feels normal.   This is why I prefer the sedentary or the physical.

The links to the doctor who quotes are below.  They sound much more epic with the music.
